A. Strengthening of database and GIS for fisheries sector scheme: (100% central assistance) This is central sector scheme for the development of inland fishery statistics in the state to evolve a suitable methodology for collection of data and estimation of fish production of the state. The entire 100% contribution of central govt. in this scheme Chhattisgarh State proposed to GOI for water body survey through GIS technique.
B. Fisheries Development under National Agriculture Programme/Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna : (RKVY) 100% Central resistance this is central sector scheme for the fisheries development activities in Chhattisgarh is taken up for increasing fish seed production, fish production productivity tanks and reservoirs, additional construction of water bodies development of reservoirs and assistance to fishermen and fishermen co-operative society and promotion of employment etc. The following schemes are sanctioned by government (05.05.2008) under RKVY programme :

3 Establishment of circular hatchery To supply improved breed of healthy fish seed to fishermen. To increase in fish production per ha and to achieve self sufficiency in fish seed production. Unit cost:- Rs. 60 lakh/unit
4 Renovation of Govt. hatcheries and farms By renovating the useless hatcheries and fish seed farms increased is to be obtained. Unit cost:- Rs. 7 lakh/farm/hat. or as per requirement
5 Fish seed rearing in seasonal ponds To create self employment opportunities to the fishermen by fish seed rearing work in Govt./Panchayat ponds. To supply the culturable, high quality, healthy and of prescribed size fingerling locally Unit cost:- Rs. 0.40 lakh/BF. (Rs. 0.30 lakh Govt. & 0.10 lakh farmer contribution)
6 Increase in fish productvity by Stocking of fingerlings fish seed in ponds To gradually increase fish production by stocking of fish seed fingerling in ponds Unit cost:- Rs. 0.04 lakh/ha. (0.03 lakh Govt. & 0.01 lakh farmer contribution)
7 Increase in fish production by cage culture of reservoirs To stocking fish seed of the size of more than 100 mm in reservoirs by using advance technique of cage culture. To increase fish production in reservoirs up to 200 kg per ha in medium reservoirs and 100 kg per ha in big reservoirs Unit cost:- Rs. 5 lakh/unit
8 Assistance for fisheries development in reservoir For obtaining gradual increase of fish production, stocking of 2000 fingerling in small reservoirs, 1000 fingerling in medium and 500 to 1000 fingerling/ha in bigger reservoirs has been provided
9 Establishment of cold chain system for fish marketing. To provide self employment for fish marketing to fishermen cooperative societies/group members of weaker section. To supply fresh disease free fish inform of nutritious and digestive to neighbouring and rural areas. Unit cost:- Rs. 5 lakh/unit
10 State and District level seminar for fishermen. To earn maximum from fishery and obtain maximum development of public awareness, through training, exibihition, farmers visit, seminar, meetings Unit cost:- Rs. 350/BF/state seminar and Rs. 250/BF/district seminar.
11 Study tour for fisheries activity in the state and out of state. To send the fishermen on study tour for practical experience of new techniques for fish culture which are being adopted by the progressive fishermen by fish culture Unit cost:- Rs. 300/BF/state study tour and Rs. 600/BF/out of state study tour
12  Assistance to fishermen for Net and Boat purchase for fishing - increasing fishing efforts
13 Cooperative Societies and Fishermen To arrange financial assistance for purchase of boat and net. To extend coverage fishing equipment Unit cost:- Rs. 1.00 lakh/societies
14 Financial Assistance for Boats and Nets for fishing operation in rivers. To provide financial assistance to fishermen Groups, fish cooperative society, for purchasing Boats and Nets for fishing in rivers. To increase the income of fishermen bvy more fish production by fishing in rivers. Unit cost:- Rs. 40000/BF/(Rs.10000.00 farmer contridution and Rs.30000.00 Govt. assistance.)
15 Assistannce to fishermen for retail fish sale for fish marketing. To provide fresh & nutritive and easily digestible food for rural person of the State, inform of fish. To provide self employment fo the fishermen by this scheme. Unit cost:- Rs.6000/BF/(Rs.1500.00 farmer contridution and Rs.4500.00 Govt. assistance.)
16 Financial assistance to fishermen for purchase of cifax.(Eco friendly scientific formulation for fish health management.) To provide financial assistance to fishermen for purchanse of cifax. In Rkvy Scheme – New programme – A – Increase in fish production by cage culture of reservoirs under National Mission for protein supplements (NMPS) Objective of Scheme
  • To Stock fish seed of the size of more than 10 – 15 cm/25 gm in reservoir by using advance technique of cage culture.
  • To increase fish production in reservoirs up to 384 tonnes in reservoirs (5 tonnes/cage)
  • To open self employment opportunity and increased the means of income of the fish farmers through cage culture in reservoirs.
  • To save transport cost and to increase the percentage of survival of fish seed by rearing cage culture.
To save fish food and to control diseases by proper management of cage technique.

B-Construction of tanks on their own land – NMPS The State has large potential for fisheries development. Due to various reasons, this potential has remained untapped. Besides enhancing production and productivity from the existing tanks and ponds. Proposed under RKVY additional water area (Construction of new ponds) for fish culture which will not only add to the fish production of the state but will be also generated additional employment, specially in the rural areas. Under this programme interested farmer will submit an application on prescribed employment within the time limit before the. Departmental District Officer. Beneficiary will be selected after Committee will scrutinize, as per norms, the beneficiaries. Beneficiary will arrange inputs by drawing loan from bank or loan will be arranged from local commercial banks.

Fisheries Development under National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) Programme: The NFDB will assist the following six components to support intensive aquaculture in ponds and tanks:
  • Intensive aquaculture in new ponds and tanks
  • Establishment of hatcheries for production of fish seed.
  • Establishment of fish seed rearing units for production of fish fingerlings.
  • Training and demonstration.
